Carbon dot treatment utilizes nontoxic carbon nanoparticles roughly 100,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair. Preclinical findings indicate that these nanoparticles can successfully cross the blood-brain barrier, a biological obstacle that historically neutralizes many conventional systemic chemotherapies. By enabling targeted delivery directly to tumor sites, the approach permits lower therapeutic doses, which may reduce systemic toxicity and adverse side effects for patients managing aggressive malignancies like glioblastoma.
