Netflix Expands Gaming to TVs, Smartphones to Serve as Controllers
LOS GATOS, CA – Netflix is extending its gaming platform beyond mobile devices, bringing a selection of interactive titles to televisions. teh streaming giant will launch a dedicated games category on TVs, allowing subscribers to play directly on their big screens while utilizing their smartphones as controllers.
The move represents a notable expansion of Netflix’s gaming ambitions, initially launched in 2021 with mobile games available on Android and iOS. This new offering aims to provide a more immersive and social gaming experience for its subscriber base.
The initial rollout is planned for the winter holidays in the United States, with availability expected in other regions, including Romania, in the first part of next year.
The first five games available will include: LEGO Party!, a competitive party game; Pictionary: Game Night, the classic drawing and guessing game; boggle Party, a word game supporting up to eight players; Tetris Time Warp, a reimagining of the iconic puzzle game; and Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends, a social deduction game.
A key feature of the TV gaming experience will be a multiplayer mode, enabling real-time gameplay with friends, each using their own TV and smartphone as a controller.
