Monterrey Influencer ‘El Potro’ Repairs Potholes, Sparks Controversy

Influencer ‍’El Potro’ Repairs Pothole Linked to Fatal ‍Shooting of Ice Cream Vendor in Guanajuato

Urireo, guanajuato – Influencer Manuel Cantú, known as “El Potro,” traveled to Urireo, Salvatierra, Guanajuato,⁢ to personally repair a dangerous pothole on a road were local ice cream vendor Don Nico was shot while livestreaming a Facebook ⁤broadcast denouncing its condition. Don Nico died⁢ days later from his injuries.

“Today we covered the pothole that a brave citizen reported in the community ⁢of Urireo,Guanajuato. Your voice should not remain silent, because​ fear ‍cannot cover the truth,”‌ El Potro stated in‌ a​ video posted to social media,​ showing him patching the ‍road.

the incident gained widespread attention after Don Nico was attacked with gunfire while broadcasting‌ live about the dilapidated state of the ⁣roadway. His broadcast highlighted the dangers ⁢posed​ by the ‍neglected infrastructure.⁤

Following El Potro’s actions,the Salvatierra⁤ Government issued a statement claiming municipal ⁤personnel had already been working on the ⁢repair and that El Potro simply requested to ⁣film the process while assisting. “During the work, the influencer Manuel Cantú, known as The Foal,​ requested staff support to record‌ a video⁤ in which he participated by helping to cover ​one of the potholes,” ⁢the ‌statement⁣ read.

The government’s claim sparked immediate backlash online, with many users accusing the⁤ management of opportunistically⁣ taking credit for the repair onyl after being publicly challenged by⁢ El Potro. ⁢”El Potro didn’t help, don’t be confused. HE WENT TO COVER THE POTHOLE THAT THEY SHOWED TO THEM; IF YOU HAD WANTED, ⁢you had months to cover it ⁣up,” one prominent social ⁢media comment stated, reflecting‌ widespread⁢ anger⁢ among Urireo residents.

El potro’s visit to ‍Urireo is part of⁤ a broader effort to ‍highlight dangerous road conditions across Mexico, as he stated in a previous video, “Here the route begins, ‘El Potro’ will ​continue in CDMX.” He has gained a following for personally addressing infrastructure ⁣issues and bringing attention to ‌neglected areas.
