Man Sought for Assault on Elderly individual in Morelia; Employer Cooperates with Inquiry
MORELIA, Michoacán – Authorities in Michoacán are actively searching for an individual who allegedly assaulted an elderly man on Camelinas Avenue, a major thoroughfare in the state capital. The Attorney General’s Office confirmed it has identified the aggressor as an employee of “Beky Mattresses,” a company located on the same avenue. The company’s management has announced the employee’s suspension and commitment to cooperating with the legal process.Initial investigations indicate that the alleged perpetrator kicked the elderly victim, identified as Genaro Garcidueñas Andrade, on Monday near the Camelinas neighborhood.Surveillance footage from nearby businesses captured the incident, showing the aggressor pursuing Mr. Garcidueñas for several meters before delivering a kick from behind. The elderly man fell to the ground but was able to stand and leave the scene. The assailant reportedly returned to his place of employment.
Following the widespread circulation of the video, the Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation and assigned a specialized team of agents from the Investigation Police to the case. Mr. Garcidueñas was located by investigators yesterday in the vicinity of the Ventura Puente neighborhood, approximately five kilometers from the site of the assault.
Mr. Garcidueñas was taken to the Prosecutor’s Office for a medical examination to determine the extent of his injuries. A relative accompanied him throughout this process. The Prosecutor’s Office has currently filed charges for injuries but is continuing to gather evidence to ascertain if any other offenses may be applicable.
Genaro Garcidueñas is a well-known figure in Morelia, having spent over three decades navigating the city’s Historic Center and various neighborhoods, including Quiroga, Ventura Puente, Cuauhtémoc, Chapultepec, Electricians, Employee, Félix Ireta, and Camelinas.
