Mexican Navy Commences Participation in Unitas 2025 Exercise
MAYPORT, FL – A Task Force from the Mexican Navy initiated its participation in the multinational naval exercise Unitas 2025 today, departing from the port of tampico, Tamaulipas on September 7, 2025, and arriving at Naval station Mayport, Florida. The exercise, the world’s oldest naval exercise, runs from September 15 to October 6 along the U.S. East Coast.
The 425-member Mexican naval contingent is led by Ship’s Captain Jaime Arturo Rodríguez García and comprises 70 women and 355 men. Assets deployed include the amphibious warship Arm Papaloapan (A-411), ocean patrol vessel arm Oaxaca (PO-161), and a panther helicopter (ANX-2160).
The Task Force also includes specialized teams focused on Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIO),search and rescue (SAR),riverine warfare,special forces,a marine infantry company,a combined multinational staff,and command and control elements.
An opening ceremony was held aboard the USS Arlington of the United States Navy. Representing Mexico was Comptroller CG Dem. Julián Cepeda Castillo, acting on behalf of Secretary of the Navy, Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, alongside civil and military authorities from the U.S. and other participating nations.
Unitas 2025 brings together 26 nations – Argentina, Belize, brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Greece, guatemala, Honduras, italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Singapore, Spain, and the United States – to enhance tactical proficiency and interoperability through joint maritime operations.
Following the exercise,elements of the Mexican Navy are scheduled to participate in the celebrations commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America,taking place in Philadelphia,pennsylvania from October 9-16,2025.
