Meta Ray-Ban‌ Display⁢ now Available for‍ Purchase, Initially Limited to ⁤select US⁣ Stores

MENLO PARK,⁢ CA – September 25, 2024 – Meta’s Ray-Ban⁤ Display smart glasses are now on sale, offering features like hands-free control, live video calls, and real-time translation. However, initial availability is ‍limited to select physical retail locations in ‌the United States.

The Ray-Ban Display builds upon the foundation of ⁢the existing Ray-Ban‌ Meta smart glasses, adding a heads-up display (HUD) to project information directly⁤ onto the lens.Key features include:

*⁤ Hands-Free Control: Users can control music, answer calls, and capture photos and videos with voice commands and a touch-sensitive temple.
* Live Streaming & Video Calls: The glasses enable live streaming to ⁣Facebook ​and Instagram, and support live video calls via WhatsApp and Messenger, allowing users to share their ⁢point of view.
* Preview & Zoom: A real-time camera viewfinder with zoom functionality assists in capturing photos and videos, ‌with easy selection and sharing options.
* Pedestrian Navigation: Phone-free walking ‌directions with a visual map displayed on the glasses are available in select cities, with ⁤expansion planned.

the Meta ⁢Ray-Ban Display weighs 69 grams, noticeably heavier than the standard⁣ Ray-Ban Meta glasses (52 grams) and non-smart ⁤Ray-Ban frames (45 grams). Meta estimates around six hours of battery life with ‍typical use.

A software update scheduled for December will introduce the⁢ Meta Neural Band, enabling text input via finger‍ swipes on a physical surface.

Recent hands-on reviews indicate the glasses represent a first-generation device with some flaws, while the accompanying Meta Neural Band has been described as “magic” in its functionality.
