Meta Ray-Ban Display Faces Chaotic Launch as Stock Issues Plague Retailers
The highly anticipated Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses are proving difficult to purchase for many early adopters, with reports of empty shelves and limited availability surfacing across the United States just days after launch.Customers hoping to buy the glasses in person at Best buy, LensCrafters, and sunglass Hut locations have encountered confusion among staff and a lack of initial stock.
The rollout issues raise questions about Meta’s ability to meet demand for its latest foray into augmented reality eyewear. While the glasses represent a significant step forward in consumer-facing AR technology, the frustrating launch experience is hindering access for those eager to try them. Photos taken by UploadVR’s Don Hopper at a Best Buy in Springfield, Missouri, show empty display cabinets where the glasses were expected to be.
UploadVR’s Ian Hamilton managed to purchase a unit in New York City on launch day,but only after visiting multiple stores and was informed that not all band sizes were available.
The cause of the limited availability – whether due to production bottlenecks, insufficient staff training, or unexpectedly high demand – remains unclear. However, the current situation suggests the Meta Ray-Ban Display is not yet widely accessible, despite its official launch.
