Meet at Mia: Hispanic Heritage Celebration on October 15
Minneapolis is hosting a series of free Thursday evening events for adults titled Meet at Mia, featuring live music, art making, special programs, and unique food and drink for purchase. An event takes place on October 15, marking the close of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15.
Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration Highlights Local Artists
The October 15 gathering brings together artists from around the Twin Cities for an evening focused on creativity and community. Attendees can participate in Mola-inspired art making led by Valentina Peroza. The schedule also includes live poetry readings from the Palabristas. Musical performances feature Migueal Vargas and Terrell LaMarr of Radio Pocho.
Visitors can access unique food and drink options for purchase from the Las Twins food truck during the evening program. No registration or secret handshake is required to attend the Thursday night gathering.
Guided Tours and Artist Conversations Offer Exhibition Access
The evening program incorporates special access to specific museum exhibitions currently on display. Visitors can explore the “Maria Berrio: Songlines” exhibition through free guided tours scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
An in-gallery conversation is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. inside the “‘Immigrants’: A Gift from Morelos to Mia” exhibition. The discussion features exhibition contributor and local artist Xavier Tavera.
Free Evening Program Operates on Drop-In Basis
Meet at Mia events operate on a drop-in basis for adult visitors. The October 15 program runs during evening museum hours. Admission to the special Thursday event series remains free of charge, with food and beverages available for separate purchase.
