The incident occurred on East Access Road near the Cañadita Alegre crossing when a Mercedes Benz semi-truck,carrying a partial load of cattle,overturned after colliding with a Renault Kangoo. The truck driver lost control, impacting a guardrail and ultimately blocking traffic through the tunnel.
