Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Roberto Martinez cited as the culprit of Belgium’s fall into World Cup 2022. A number of Belgian players have also turned down Eden Hazard as a Belgian starter.

Based on reports The Athleticthe divisions within the Belgium national team did indeed occur during the 2022 World Cup. While not as big as the media has advertised up until now, it is true that there are divisions within the team.

The news that there was a fight between Jan Vertonghen, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne after Belgium lost to Morocco really happened. The three players were even separated by Romelu Lukaku.

Martinez was later blamed by a number of senior players for being considered mistakes in player selection, especially in regards to Eden Hazard. The Spanish manager would have trusted Hazard too much, whose performance has dropped drastically in the last two seasons.

Hazard started twice for Belgium as they beat Canada and lost to Morocco. The Real Madrid player later came on as a substitute as Belgium were held to a draw by Croatia and failed to qualify for the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup.

In The Athletic’s report, Martinez was believed to “lack the guts” to replace Hazard. A number of Belgian players think Jeremy Doku or Leandro Trossard are more worthy to start than Hazard.

Martinez himself has stepped down as manager of the Belgian national team because his contract has expired.

Kevin De Bruyne has also received a lot of criticism from a number of Belgian players. The Manchester City midfielder’s action to belittle his team-mate because he is considered “old” has been described as a careless act that has ruined the harmony of the team.

It was previously reported that the split in the Belgian camp continued after five players reportedly opted to buy their own tickets to fly home early from Qatar.

According to Sport Bible, the five players are Thomas Meunier, Axel Witsel, Jeremy Doku, Arthur Theate and Lois Openda. They reportedly landed in Brussels before the Belgian team.
