– Marta Secures Ninth Copa América Title for Brazil

Brazil secured their ninth Copa América title,and fifth overall as hosts,following a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Colombia in Bucaramanga on August 2nd,2025. The match, held at the Estadio Alfonso López, ended 3-3 after extra time, with veteran forward Marta playing a pivotal role.

Marta, 39, scored twice during the match, contributing substantially to Brazil’s offensive efforts. She was substituted in the 82nd minute, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd. Despite missing her own penalty in the shootout, Brazil emerged victorious thanks to crucial saves from goalkeeper Lorena, who denied two Colombian attempts.
