Friends Fear for Future of Beloved Ancona actress, Maria Pia Cafiero, After Hospitalization
ancona, Italy – september 13, 2025 - Concerns are mounting for the well-being of Maria Pia Cafiero, a former actress and well-known figure in Ancona, as she awaits discharge from Torrette Hospital following a recent health crisis. Friends are voicing fears about her future, highlighting a perceived lack of support as she prepares to return home alone.
Cafiero was hospitalized after being found unwell in her apartment on Via Jesi. A concerned neighbour, who hadn’t seen her in days, alerted emergency services, possibly averting a tragedy.
“If it hadn’t been for a neighbor checking in on her, things could have been much worse,” said Angelica Spinanti and Leonardo Bianchi, longtime friends who have been visiting Cafiero daily. “We started looking for her when we hadn’t seen her in Piazza Roma for a few days. When we learned she was in the hospital, we came instantly and continue to visit every day.”
While doctors initially anticipated her discharge today, the decision has been postponed until Monday. This delay, however, has amplified anxieties surrounding her care. Cafiero lives alone and requires significant assistance, especially with mobility – she’s recently experienced difficulty standing and walking despite previously being active.
“She needs everything,” Spinanti and Bianchi explained. “An ambulance will bring her home, but who will be there to care for her? There’s no one.”
Friends are frustrated by their inability to connect with Cafiero’s social worker and support administrator.Despite repeated attempts, they report difficulty establishing interaction with those responsible for her ongoing care.
“We bring her supplies and comfort to the hospital, trying to encourage her,” they said. “But we’re deeply worried about what will happen once she’s home. We can’t allow her to be abandoned. She deserves better.”
Cafiero’s life has been marked by both early promise and subsequent hardship. Once a hopeful actress, she has faced personal struggles that have led to a life of solitude. Despite these challenges, she remains a beloved figure in Ancona, known for her sharp memory, insightful observations, and genuine connection with others.
“You can’t help but love Maria Pia,” Spinanti and Bianchi emphasized. “She’s like family to us. We’re asking for greater sensitivity and responsiveness from the agencies responsible for her well-being.”
the situation highlights a growing concern for vulnerable individuals within the community and underscores the critical need for robust social support systems. Friends are appealing for increased attention to Cafiero’s case, hoping to ensure she receives the care and assistance she desperately needs.
