Manchester united Finalised Deal for Arsenal‘s Gyokeres Before Arsenal Move, Agent Reveals
Manchester United secretly finalised a transfer agreement with Sporting Lisbon for forward Viktor Gyokeres before Arsenal ultimately secured his signature, according to the player’s agent, Nikos Chalkias. Chalkias detailed a “ridiculous offer” from United, exceeding Arsenal’s bid, but Gyokeres’ heart was set on joining the Gunners.
The revelation sheds light on a complex transfer saga that saw Arsenal land the Swedish international this summer. Chalkias explained that Sporting had initially agreed to united’s higher financial proposal, but Gyokeres consistently indicated his preference for a move to Arsenal, repeatedly rejecting United’s advances. “They [Sporting] had agreed because United paid a much higher transfer fee, but they didn’t get any attention. Every time they called it was, ’no, no, no’, as he wanted to go to Arsenal,” Chalkias stated.
The agent further clarified that money wasn’t Gyokeres’ primary motivation. “I think ultimately, money comes and money goes. Making this move to Arsenal gives us good marketing, too. He was actually never even that way, he didn’t think about it.”
Gyokeres has started strongly at Arsenal, featuring in every premier League game this season as the Gunners currently lead the table. chalkias believes the forward will continue to improve as he settles in, predicting he will score “many goals” for the club. He highlighted Arsenal’s potential for success, noting their ability to compete for both the Premier League and Champions League titles, as key factors in Gyokeres’ decision. “Getting to do it on the biggest stage, living in London, playing for Arsenal, it doesn’t get much bigger,” Chalkias added.
