Man internationally called for after the Tveita shooting

Victim Hospitalized, Police Appeal for Public Assistance

Authorities are actively searching for a suspect following a shooting incident at Oslo’s Tveita Center on Saturday afternoon. The victim sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalized, while no arrests have yet been made.

Investigation Underway

Police have identified the individual responsible for the shooting but have not apprehended them. An international search is reportedly underway, and authorities are urging the suspect to surrender. The victim, who was briefly interrogated by police, is in serious condition.

Preceding Altercation Reported

The incident began with a fight involving several individuals at a cafe within the shopping center. During this altercation, a weapon was produced, and multiple shots were fired.

“There has been a fight between several people at a cafe area. In connection with this, a weapon was highlighted and several shots were fired inside the center.”

Police suspect the shooting stemmed from an internal dispute between groups.

Extensive Resources Deployed

Emergency services responded to reports of shots fired at Tveita Center Saturday afternoon. Police have been conducting an intensive investigation, working through the night and continuing with significant resources throughout the day.

“We have formed a picture of the course of events. We are still at an early stage in the investigation, and continue with a lot of resources throughout the day.”

According to the Norwegian Police Directorate, firearm incidents in public spaces, while rare, are taken very seriously, with Norway experiencing approximately 0.4 firearm homicides per 100,000 population annually (Source: UNODC, 2021 data).
