MacBook Pro 2025: Apple is also removing the power supply from laptops – only in Europe

by Rachel Kim – Technology Editor

Apple⁢ will no longer include a power adapter with its MacBook Pro laptops sold in Europe, aligning with new EU ⁤regulations mandating a universal charging standard. Teh ‌change, effective spring 2026⁣ for laptops, follows Apple’s prior decision to ⁤discontinue power adapters with iPhone sales to comply with the directive. Consumers ⁣can still purchase a power supply separately if ⁤needed,⁣ and manufacturers offering bundled power supplies must also provide an option to buy ⁢the device without one.

The EU directive aims to⁤ reduce electronic waste and simplify ⁤charging for consumers. While Apple could have opted to include‌ a power ⁣supply with all units and offer a discount for those choosing to forgo it, the company appears to have chosen to remove ⁢it entirely. The base price of the new MacBook Pro⁤ M3 has decreased by 100 euros compared to the previous model, though⁤ this is attributed to exchange rate fluctuations rather than the removal of the power adapter.
