Mabia Akter Simanta: National Weightlifting Champion Update

Mabia ⁣Akter Simanta⁣ continued her decade-long reign as national champion, achieving a career-best total lift of 210kg at the 18th National Senior Women’s Weightlifting Championship on September 24, 2025. The athlete’s performance at the Captain​ M.Mansur ‌Ali Handball Stadium⁣ marks a new ⁤personal record and solidifies her position as Bangladesh‘s top female weightlifter.

Since first claiming the national title in 2013,Mabia has consistently dominated the sport,becoming ⁣a symbol of strength and determination for aspiring athletes in Bangladesh. This latest victory,achieved with a 92kg snatch and 118kg clean and jerk,surpasses⁣ her previous ⁤best of 204kg and signals continued progress as she prepares for international competition.

Mabia first ‍gained ⁤national recognition at the 2016 ‍South Asian Games in Guwahati,where a viral video captured her emotional reaction too ⁣winning ‍gold. She successfully defended her title ⁢at the⁢ 2019 South Asian Games in Pokhara, and now sets her sights on the upcoming 14th edition of the ‍Games, scheduled to be held in Pakistan ​next year.

Earlier in 2025, ⁤Mabia competed in the⁣ 71kg ⁣category at the ⁣Asian Championship, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to pushing her boundaries. Her consistent success underscores the growing potential of women’s weightlifting in Bangladesh and inspires future generations⁤ of athletes.
