Luhut Urges Nephew Pandu Sjahrir too Lead Investment Agency with Heart and Responsibility
Jakarta – Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, has issued a special charge to his nephew, Pandu Sjahrir, who has been appointed Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (and Antara).Luhut implored Pandu to undertake this notable mandate with unwavering responsibility and genuine dedication.
The poignant message was delivered during the launch of the Indonesian Padi Kapas Foundation at the Indonesia Stock Exchange Building in Jakarta on Monday, July 28, 2025. during his address, Luhut fondly recalled his late brother-in-law, dr. Sjahrir, Pandu’s father, who passed away approximately 17 years ago. “if your father is watching from the sky now, he would say, ‘My son is also outstanding’,” Luhut remarked, eliciting warm laughter from the attendees.
luhut further highlighted Pandu’s tangible contributions to national progress, suggesting that his nephew has even surpassed his father’s legacy.”From my personal perspective, Ci’il (Dr. Sjahrir) was great, but I believe his child is even greater in this regard.Yes, you have achieved much, and it’s truly remarkable. This country is lucky to have young people like you,” he stated.
Emphasizing the gravity of Pandu’s role as CIO and Antara, Luhut underscored that it represents a profound trust placed in him by President Prabowo Subianto. He advised Pandu to not only rely on his intellect but also to cultivate strong character. “character is paramount. So, Pandu, I entrust you with this significant responsibility, a trust given by the President.Carry it out with your heart,not just with your intellect. Work with your heart,” Luhut urged.
