Liev Schreiber Hospitalized in New York City Following Sudden onset of Amnesia
New York, NY – Actor Liev Schreiber was rushed to a New York hospital after experiencing a severe headache and a frightening episode of memory loss backstage before a performance. The Ray Donovan star was diagnosed with transient global amnesia, a temporary condition characterized by an inability to form new memories.
The incident occurred while Schreiber was preparing to perform, raising concerns about his health and prompting a swift medical evaluation. Transient global amnesia, while typically not caused by a more serious underlying condition, can be deeply unsettling for those who experiance it. Schreiber, 56, shares two children with ex-partner Naomi Watts and recently welcomed a child with wife Taylor Neisen.
Schreiber described the experience as beginning with a headache he initially dismissed as stress-related. ”I was in my dressing room and I had a terrible headache. I thought it was maybe a fast food headache, but it felt a little stronger than that,” he recounted. The situation escalated quickly when he found himself unable to recall the name of his co-star, Amy Ryan, moments before going on stage. “I don’t feel okay,” he stated, recognizing something was seriously wrong.
An MRI scan ultimately revealed the diagnosis of transient global amnesia. The condition is believed to be temporary, and SchreiberS current condition and recovery timeline remain undisclosed.
Schreiber’s extensive acting career includes roles in films such as Scream, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Mixed Nuts, as well as his critically acclaimed portrayal of Ray Donovan. He has received nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations and five Golden Globe Award nominations throughout his career. He and Naomi Watts ended their 11-year relationship in 2016, both subsequently remarrying. Schreiber married former Miss South Dakota, Taylor Neisen, in July 2023, and they welcomed their first child together in August 2023.
