In the first half of 2025,Netflix solidified its position as a streaming powerhouse,unveiling its most-watched films and highlighting a diverse global content strategy. The streamer’s data reveals a strong performance across English and non-English language productions,with “Back In Action,” starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz,emerging as the overall most-viewed title.
The streamer’s top three films in the first half of the year were “STRAW” (103 million views) and “The Life List” (96 million views), both featuring Sofia Carson. “Back In Action” secured the top spot,underscoring the appeal of its star-studded cast.
Beyond its English-language hits, Netflix showcased notable global reach with its non-English language offerings. Germany’s “exterritorial” ranked fourth overall with 88 million views, marking it as the streamer’s fourth most popular non-English language film to date. Other international successes included Mexico’s “Counterattack” (71 million views) at number 8, the Netherlands’ “iHostage” (57 million views), France’s “Ad Vitam” (70 million views) at number 9 and “K.O.” (44 million views), Japan’s “Bullet Train Explosion” (33 million views), India’s “Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins” (23 million views), and Colombia’s “Karol G: Tommorow Was Beautiful” (13 million views). These figures were released alongside Netflix’s second and fourth-quarter earnings reports,a period during wich the company shifted its reporting strategy to no longer provide overall quarterly subscriber data.
Rounding out the top 10 films were “Havoc” at number 5 with 87 million views,”The Secret Life of pets 2″ at number 6 with 75 million views,”The Electric State” at number 7 with 74 million views,and “Despicable Me 2” concluding the list with 60 million views.
Netflix also recognized Vince Vaughn-starring “Nonnas” for its 58 million views and highlighted Studio Ghibli’s “Spirited away” and “Howl’s Moving Castle,” both with 6 million views.
Looking ahead, the streamer announced several high-profile upcoming projects, including Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2,” Kathryn Bigelow’s political thriller “A House of dynamite,” and Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein.” Further additions to its slate include Noah Baumbach’s coming-of-age comedy/drama “Jay Kelly,” starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler, and the animated musical “In Your Dreams.”
