Kev Adams: Why He Doesn’t Like Being Recognized by Fans

Kev Adams, a 33-year-old comedian, has voiced his strong disapproval of celebrities who express annoyance at fan interactions. He believes that if one chooses a career involving public exposure, they should accept that fans will approach them. Adams finds the notion that celebrity has become “too heavy to bear” to be an exaggeration, particularly in France, which he describes as a country where such interactions are “ultra cool.” He even admits to being apprehensive about the opposite scenario – a future where no one recognizes him in public,as he finds validation in being acknowledged.

Adams is particularly critical of colleagues who complain about being approached by fans. He asserts that the vast majority of people who recognize him are polite and that he is “nine times out of ten nice.” He directly challenges the attitude of stars who avoid their fans, stating, “The more I get older, the more it makes me phew to see people complaining about that, or to hear artists say: ‘Yeah, at the moment he is careful with the photos.’ But will make you in frankly, it’s okay, you don’t save lives!” Adams emphasizes that it’s impossible to pursue a career in entertainment without a certain level of public engagement. He observes that many French celebrities, in his opinion, do not embrace this reality, citing instances at events where he feels some act as if they have performed remarkable feats, like saving children from cancer.

He recounted an incident at the Cannes Film Festival where he encountered a well-known actor who expressed a desire to remain “a little hidden” due to fan attention. Adams responded with sarcasm, asking if the actor was saving lives. the actor reportedly took offense, questioning the remark. Adams maintains that his comment was not intended as a joke but rather as a challenge to the actor’s perceived arrogance. He claims that such behaviour is common within the French film industry. Adams assures his own fans that he is not the type to refuse a photo prospect.
