Julieta Venegas Draws 12,000 Fans to Miquixtli Festival 2026 in Morelos
The voice of Julieta Venegas drew more than 12,000 people to the Plaza General Emiliano Zapata Salazar in Cuernavaca, where her songs accompanied an emotional evening during the 2026 Miquixtli Festival.
Concert Draws Thousands for Day of Dead Celebrations
Organized by the Government of Morelos through the Ministry of Culture, the festival aimed to bring high-quality artistic performances to public spaces. Venegas performed a career-spanning set that included tracks such as “Lento,” “Algo está cambiando,” “Andar conmigo,” “Eres para mí,” “Me voy,” and “Limón y sal,” closing out her performance with “El presente.” Attendees arrived early to secure their spots, creating a multi-generational audience that blended the singer’s catalog with Day of the Dead traditions.
The musical lineup also featured Luna López, a singer from Zacatepec and finalist in Mexico Canta, who shared her voice with the crowd to highlight local Morelos talent within a roster combining regional artists with established names.
Miquixtli Festival Features 150 Activities Across Morelos
The 33rd edition of Miquixtli, operating under the theme “Caminos que nos unen,” runs through November 1 with approximately 150 activities spread across Cuernavaca, Tepoztlán, Cuautla, Puente de Ixtla, and Zacualpan de Amilpas. Veracruz serves as the guest state for this year’s programming, contributing a diverse schedule of concerts, ofrendas, dance performances, and children’s events.
The broader autumn cultural calendar in Morelos includes several key milestones leading up to and following the festival. On October 15 and 16, the 5th Festival of Native Corn of Morelos took place in Cuernavaca and Tlalnepantla, featuring product exchanges and local sales. Shortly after, on October 18, La Carrera Panamericana passed through Tepoztlán, allowing spectators to view classic, vintage, and competition vehicles in the town center.

Upcoming Cultural Programming
With the Miquixtli Festival concluding on November 1 under the administration of Margarita González Saravia—which seeks to open public stages for local creators and maintain community traditions—the state’s cultural calendar immediately shifts toward culinary arts. Cuernavaca is scheduled to host La Gran Mesa de México, an Ibero-American summit of regional cuisine, from November 5 to November 8. That upcoming gathering will feature regional cooking pavilions, local product markets, and master classes with specialists, maintaining the state’s active schedule of public events through the end of the season.
