Albanian Judge Shot Dead During court Hearing
Tirana, Albania – A judge was fatally shot in a courtroom in Albania on Thursday during a hearing related to a property dispute, prompting a nationwide outcry and calls for increased security measures. The perpetrators, identified as E. SH, 30, opened fire during the trial, according to albanian police.
The judge, whose name has not been publicly released, was rushed to the hospital but died en route from his injuries. Two other individuals – a father and son involved in the property dispute – were also shot and wounded, and are currently in stable condition. the incident raises serious questions about security protocols within Albanian courts and the escalating boldness of criminal activity.
Albanian police stated the perpetrators escaped instantly after the shooting but were later apprehended. Authorities have recovered revolver pistols allegedly used in the attack.While the exact motive remains under examination, local media reports suggest the shooting stemmed from the perpetrators’ fear of losing the property dispute case.
Prime Minister Edi Rama condemned the killing as a “tragic event,” calling for “reflection” on the court system’s internal security. In a statement posted on social media platform X, Rama demanded the “most extreme legal response” for the killers and advocated for harsher penalties for firearms-related crimes in Albania.
