Japan’s New PS5 Model Sees Sales Dip ⁤in First Full Week

Tokyo, Japan – Sales of⁢ Sony’s⁣ recently released Japan-specific ‌PlayStation 5 model have declined‌ during its first full⁣ week on the market,⁢ according to data ⁤released by Famitsu. From ⁤November 24th to November 30th,the console ⁤sold 17,491 units – a decrease of nearly⁤ 6,000 units⁤ compared to⁢ the ⁣initial launch period of roughly⁤ two‌ to three days.

The new PS5 model was introduced as a more affordable option for Japanese consumers, priced at ¥55,000⁣ (~$350) compared ‍to the standard ⁣version’s ¥72,980 (~$473). However, this price reduction‌ comes ‍with ⁢limitations: the console is region-locked‌ to Japan adn requires a Japanese PlayStation Network (PSN) account, restricting its usability outside of the ⁤country.⁢ Despite the‌ lower price point, the first full week⁤ of sales ‍figures represent a downturn from the initial consumer response.

The Nintendo Switch⁢ 2⁤ dominated ⁣console sales in Japan during the same period, with 97,677 units sold.⁣ Here’s a breakdown of the full ⁤sales data⁤ for November 24th‌ to ⁣November 30th:
