Israel-Palestine Conflict: NGOs Criticize, UN Conference Debates Future

New York: France has asserted that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not an intractable issue. This statement comes as a three-day United Nations conference, co-convened by France and Saudi Arabia, commenced in the saudi capital on Monday.

The french Foreign Minister articulated that a two-state solution is the sole path to achieving the legitimate aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians to live in security and peace. French President Emmanuel Macron has previously indicated that France would officially recognize a Palestinian state in September. Currently, Palestine is recognized by 142 out of the 193 UN member states. However, amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza, concerns are mounting that a resolution may be unattainable, casting a shadow over the UN conference.

Discussions at the UN conference are also addressing the Palestinian AuthorityS governance, disarmament, and the expulsion of individuals from Palestinian public life. Notably, the united States and Israel are not participating in this conference.
