Naughty Dog’s ‘Intergalactic‘ Now Targeting 2027 release, Won’t Appear at The Game Awards
Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive, currently known as “Intergalactic,” is now expected to launch no earlier than 2027, according to industry insiders. This pushes back expectations for the game and perhaps aligns its release with the arrival of Sony’s next-generation PlayStation console, rumored to be the PS6.
The news comes from prominent gaming journalist jeff Grubb, who stated via Twitter that the game will not be showcased at The Game Awards this year. further confirmation arrived from bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who asserted that sources familiar with the growth timeline have confirmed a 2026 release is also off the table. While Naughty Dog has recently been actively hiring, including positions focused on polishing final content, this doesn’t indicate imminent release.
Naughty Dog has a history of releasing major titles alongside PlayStation console launches. The Last of Us debuted on PS3 in the same year as the PS4, and The Last of Us Part II arrived shortly before the PS5’s release. This pattern suggests the studio is comfortable with a similar strategy for “Intergalactic,” potentially maximizing impact across generations. The delay allows for continued development and refinement, but also introduces the possibility of the game serving as a flagship title for a new playstation platform.
