Mats Hummels Joins MagentaTV‘s WM 2026 Broadcast Team
NEW YORK – Former German national team defender Mats Hummels is embarking on a new career venture as an expert analyst for MagentaTV’s coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the streaming platform announced today. Hummels joins fellow football personalities Thomas Müller and Jürgen Klopp as recent high-profile additions to MagentaTV’s broadcast team.
the move marks a notable win for MagentaTV as it builds out its coverage of the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The platform aims to combine expert analysis with engaging entertainment, leveraging the outspoken perspectives of its new hires to deliver a unique viewing experience for fans. Hummels, who recently retired from professional play with AS Roma, previously served as an analyst for Prime Video, covering Champions League matches.
“MagentaTV, I already enjoyed watching when my brother Jonas was an expert at the 2022 World Cup,” Hummels said in a statement. “He told me a lot of positive things.I believe, with the whole crew we now have – in New York, but also being on site in the stadiums – it will be really cool. MagentaTV will broadcast all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup, with 44 games exclusive to the platform, including two quarterfinal and three round-of-16 matches. The tournament is scheduled to run from June 11th to July 19th.
The official match schedule will be finalized on Saturday following the tournament draw, which will be commented on by Wolff Fuss and Sascha Bandermann, with reporter Thomas Wagner conducting interviews. Joining hummels, Müller, and Klopp will be moderator Johannes B. Kerner and commentator Fuss.
