Huawei Launches MatePad Mini with Satellite Messaging & 2K OLED Display
SHENZHEN, CHINA – Huawei has unveiled the MatePad Mini, a compact tablet featuring a high-resolution 2K OLED screen and, notably, satellite interaction capabilities. The device,initially launching in China,aims to provide users with connectivity even in areas lacking traditional cellular service.Pricing starts at 3,999 yuan (approximately 18,000 baht).
The MatePad Mini addresses a growing need for portable,high-quality displays coupled with reliable communication,notably for travelers,field workers,and those in regions with limited infrastructure. The inclusion of satellite messaging sets it apart from many competitors, offering a crucial lifeline in emergency situations or remote locations. Global availability will be announced by Huawei at a later date.
The tablet boasts an 8.8-inch 2K OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a peak brightness of 1800 nits. It is powered by HarmonyOS 5.1 and comes equipped with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB.
For photography, the MatePad Mini features a dual-camera system on the rear: a 50MP main camera with an F/1.8 aperture and an 8MP ultra-wide camera with an F/2.2 aperture. A 32MP front-facing camera with an F/2.4 aperture is also included.Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2,GPS,and a USB Type-C port. The device is powered by a 6400mAh battery and supports 66W fast charging.
The Huawei MatePad Mini will be available in four colors: Obsidian Black, Snow White, Spruce Green, and red. The tablet measures 198.59×127.27×5.1 mm and weighs 255 grams.
