The 21-year-old is already setting ambitious goals, aiming to collect at least ten major championships throughout her career.

Ambitious Goals and Historical Context

Gauff’s aspirations place her in select company. She openly stated her desire to reach double-digit Grand Slam titles, saying, “I mean, I would say recently I feel like I wanted to get double-digits. That’s, like, cool. But there’s no number.” She added, “Right now I would say double-digits would be pretty awesome. I don’t know if it will happen, but I think that’s a high goal. I think setting my goals high pushes me beyond what I think I can do.”

Since the Open Era began in 1968, only five women have achieved ten or more major singles titles. According to the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), as of June 2024, Serena Williams holds the record with 23 Grand Slam singles titles. (WTA Leaders)

Gauff first gained prominence as a 15-year-old when she upset Venus Williams at Wimbledon, signaling her potential for greatness. Her journey included a challenging defeat that ultimately fueled her 2023 US Open win, as she explained in a previous interview.
