His & Hers Tops Streaming Charts: Nielsen Ratings for Week of Jan 12

Netflix’s limited series, His & Hers, starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal, surged to the top of Nielsen’s Overall Streaming chart for the week of January 12, 2026, ending Stranger Things’ nine-week reign. The new psychological thriller garnered 2.244 billion viewing minutes during the period, marking a significant shift in streaming viewership.

The success of His & Hers wasn’t limited to overall numbers. the series demonstrated a broad demographic appeal. According to Nielsen data, adults aged 35-64 comprised 55% of its audience, and Black viewers accounted for over 26% of total watch time. This indicates a reach beyond the younger demographics often prioritized by streaming platforms.

Stranger Things, which had held the top spot since its final season debuted in late November, fell to second place with 1.912 billion minutes viewed. This marks the first time in seven weeks the series hasn’t been the most-watched title on Nielsen’s chart.

Paramount+’s Landman also saw gains, climbing to third place with 1.772 billion viewing minutes – its highest performance to date. The final episode of Landman accounted for 35% of the show’s total viewership during the week. Netflix’s crime thriller, The Rip, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, ranked fourth with 1.393 billion minutes viewed. The film drew a slightly larger male audience, with men making up 51% of viewers, while Hispanic and Black audiences represented 26% and 18% of the total viewership, respectively.

HBO Max’s medical drama, The Pitt, rounded out the top five with 1.158 billion viewing minutes, achieving its best weekly performance and jumping two places from the previous week. Women aged 18+ made up 58% of the show’s audience during the week of January 12.

The shared title The Closer, available on Netflix, Peacock, and Pluto TV, slipped to eighth place with 939 million viewing minutes. Peacock’s The Traitors garnered 892 million minutes viewed, while Prime Video’s Fallout reached 844 million minutes. Disney+’s animated series Bluey occupied the final position with 802 million minutes viewed, falling from No. 5 the previous week.
