Gyeongbuk Robot Championship Festival: AI & Robotics Education Event

Gyeongbuk Office of Education Hosts Accomplished 2025 Robot Championship Festival

Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk Province – The Gyeongbuk Office​ of Education successfully held the​ “2025 Gyeongbuk Education Robot Championship (RC) Festival” on the ‍8th at The K Hotel Gyeongju. The event, a ⁢key ⁤component⁢ of ⁣the‌ province’s ⁣creative and convergence education initiatives, brought together⁣ 51 students – forming 17 ​teams – from 4th to 6th grade elementary schools, alongside 13 instructors.

The festival centered around a team competition utilizing ‌the ‘Robomaster S1‘⁢ robot. teams of three students​ engaged in strategic gameplay, ⁢completing missions involving object manipulation, target practice, and point capture within​ a timed tournament format. The competition was live-streamed on ⁣the Gyeongbuk Office of ‍Education’s official YouTube channel,’Matcool Meotcool TV’,attracting a notable online audience. Awards were presented to one winning team, one excellent team, and two teams receiving encouragement awards, recognized with the Superintendent of Education award.

Beyond ‍the competition, the festival featured an interactive “robot rescue team” themed experience booth,‌ titled ‘Save the ⁢city of the future!’.This booth ​offered hands-on activities for⁢ students⁤ and parents, including “Debris Removal‌ Operation” with an ⁤adsorption robot arm, a “Recovery Mission” using assembled robots, “Energy Battery Delivery Operation” with transport robots, and a drone-based ⁣”Rescuer Search‌ Operation.” Participants who completed all ‍missions received​ a ‘Mission success Stamp’ and ⁢small‌ prizes.

The festival aimed to strengthen students’ STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, ⁣Mathematics) skills, fostering ⁤creative thinking and problem-solving abilities applicable ​to real-world scenarios. Team-based ⁤activities also focused on improving communication skills and ⁤digital ⁤literacy, cultivating​ competencies essential for future success.⁢ The event also served as a family-oriented educational‍ experience, ‌broadening understanding of robotics and AI and sparking interest ‍in future career paths.

superintendent⁢ Lim Jong-sik emphasized the role ‍of robots as⁤ tools for collaboration and creativity,stating,”Robots are not just machines,but tools of cooperation and creativity,and a ​medium that helps students ⁣develop the power to solve problems⁢ of the future society together.” He further affirmed the ‍Gyeongbuk Office of Education’s commitment to supporting students, adding, “The Gyeongbuk Office of Education will actively support students to grow into future talents who explore, cooperate, and⁤ grow‍ on their own thru ‍education that combines robots and AI.”
