Del Toro‘s ‘Frankenstein’ Screenplay to be Released as a Companion Book
Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Frankenstein will be accompanied by a 240-page hardcover book featuring the film’s screenplay, concept art, film stills, and behind-the-scenes photography. The book, published by Insight Editions, is slated for release on November 25 and is currently available for pre-order on Amazon for $30.
The release of the screenplay book follows a similar strategy employed by Netflix for del Toro and Mark Gustafson’s Pinocchio (2022), which received critical acclaim and multiple awards, including Best Animated Feature at the Golden Globes and Academy Awards.Netflix hopes to replicate this success with Frankenstein, which has already garnered awards on the festival circuit, including the Gotham Awards’ Vanguard Tribute and the Graffetta d’Oro for Best Film at the Venice International Film Festival.
The book includes a foreword penned by del Toro himself. According to the publisher’s description,it “offers an immersive experience for fans of both the original novel and del Toro’s cinematic genius.” The film is currently in theaters and will be available to stream on Netflix beginning November 7.
