Google Redesigns Gemini Android App Interface and Settings
Google has rolled out a redesigned interface for the Gemini Android application, overhauling both the side menu and the main settings menu through a server-side update. DonanımHaber reported that the visual changes bring the mobile experience in line with updates previously deployed across iOS, macOS, and web platforms last week.
Google Repositions Search and Library in Side Panel
The updated side panel repositions Google’s search function to the top-right corner of the interface. While the primary “New chat” option remains at the top of the list, the “Library” section has been moved directly beside it to give users faster access to saved content.
To prevent the menu from expanding excessively, Google limits visible items to five before requiring users to tap a "More" option.

Subscription Tiers Shape Expanded Menus
According to DonanımHaber, AI Ultra subscribers see an expanded menu structure that includes “New chat,” “Library,” “Images,” “Scheduled,” “Daily summary,” “Customize,” “Students,” “Videos,” and “Gems.”
Yesilrobot.net noted that these available options can vary depending on individual subscription tiers and rollout schedules, meaning not all users will see identical toolsets.
Unified Settings Page Architecture
The settings architecture undergoes a more substantial consolidation. Previous app versions distributed user preferences between an account menu and separate Gemini settings, but the new interface merges these controls into a single page. The account menu is now restricted to fundamental actions like switching accounts, sending feedback, and accessing help.
The revised Settings page opens with “Account management” and “Usage limits” sections. A dedicated “Preferences” category houses options for notifications, personal intelligence, avatars, task settings, themes, skills, voices, media, device controls, cart and orders, and Gemini Notebooks. Incorporating the theme selector into this menu aligns visual customization with operational controls.
Privacy Tools and Support Move to Menu Base
Beneath the preference controls, Google groups data management and privacy instruments into distinct categories. The data and privacy section incorporates memory imports, contact imports from connected devices, Gemini Apps Activity, public links, and the Privacy Help Center. Technical support options—including help, issue reporting, about text, and software updates—are housed in a separate support section at the base of the menu.
Because the update deploys via server-side distribution, users do not need to perform a manual application update to receive the interface changes, though availability continues to phase in gradually across accounts.
