Revolutionaries’ Rising Star: Shvets’ Impact
George Washington University (GW) has announced the promotion of Kyrylo Shvets to Associate Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving. This promotion recognizes Shvets’ important contributions over his two seasons with the Revolutionaries, during which the team has maintained its position at the top of the Atlantic 10 (A-10) Conference.

A Legacy of achievement
- A-10 Dominance: Shvets has coached the Buff & Blue to four A-10 Championships.
- individual Victories: GW swimmers have secured 27 individual victories at the A-10 Championships under Shvets’ guidance.
- Record-Breaking Performances: 27 new swimming records have been set in the last two seasons.
- NCAA Representation: In 2024, GW sent its largest-ever contingent of three student-athletes to the NCAA Championships.
- All-American Recognition: Shvets helped produce GW’s third-ever College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All-American, Djurdje matic.

Shvets’ Journey
Originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine, Shvets earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Sports Management from the University of the Incarnate Word. As a swimmer for Incarnate Word, he distinguished himself as a multi-time Conference champion.

A strong background in sports management, combined with competitive swimming experience, provides a solid foundation for coaching excellence.
Before joining GW,Shvets served as a volunteer assistant coach at Incarnate word from 2018 to 2022,later becoming a full-time assistant in January 2023. He also coached club swimming for streamline Aquatics from 2018 to 2023.
