Fujifilm’s X-E5 Camera: A New Era for Compact Shooters
The Latest Mirrorless Camera Brings Powerful Features to a Classic Design
Fujifilm has launched the X-E5, the newest addition to its X-E series of rangefinder-style mirrorless cameras. This model boasts significant upgrades, including a new sensor and in-body image stabilization. The X-E5 retains the spirit of the X100 series with its interchangeable lenses.
Impressive New Features
The X-E5 introduces a 40-megapixel APS-C sensor and 7-stop in-body image stabilization (IBIS). This is the first X-E series camera with IBIS, allowing for handholding up to seven stops. Video capabilities have also been enhanced, offering 6.2K video at 30 frames per second (with a 1.23 crop) and 4K at 30 fps utilizing the full sensor.

The X-E5 retains the focus mode switch and introduces a film simulation dial, enabling custom preset storage. The camera will be available in August, with the body costing $1,699. A version with the new 23mm f/2.8R WR lens will cost $1,899. Fujifilm is aiming to meet demand, and preorders are now open at Adorama and B&H Photo. Camera sales in the U.S. grew 12% year-over-year in 2024, according to the NPD Group (NPD Group).
New Audio Tech on the Horizon
Bose is also set to launch three new products, including updates to its earbuds. The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) will feature upgrades with improved AI algorithms. They will also include wireless charging, a new wax guard, and a Deep Plum colorway. The earbuds will be available to pre-order for $299/£299.
Bose is also launching two new speakers: the SoundLink Plus and the SoundLink Micro (2nd Gen). The Plus is a mid-range portable speaker, while the Micro is an updated version of the company’s smallest Bluetooth speaker. The Micro promises improved sound quality with a 12-hour battery life. The Plus will be available in several colors for $269/£249, while the Micro will cost $129/£119.
Qualcomm’s Innovation in AR
Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon AR1+ chipset for smart glasses at Augmented World Expo (AWE). The new chipset enables a small language model to run without needing a smartphone connection or cloud processing.
Most existing smart glasses rely on smartphones for AI processing. By integrating AI processing directly into the AR1+ chip, response times are faster and battery life is improved, as well as privacy. The AR1+ chipset is also smaller than its predecessor.
