Li recounted enduring physical abuse for perceived inadequacy, stating, “If I earned less than the othre children, they beat me.” He was deceived into a life of begging on the streets of China for seven years, beginning in childhood and continuing until he was 16. A turning point came when passersby questioned why he wasn’t in school, prompting him to realize the dishonor of begging and the potential for change through education.
Driven by this realization, Li secured permission from his abuser to visit his family, discovering that the full amount of money he collected never reached them. With his parents’ support, he enrolled in primary school at age 16, enduring ridicule but persevering to complete both primary and secondary education over nine years.
Unable to find a cure for his condition through conventional means, Li embarked on a remarkable path: he entered medical school at the age of 25, excelling in his studies and even volunteering as a research subject for paralysis studies. He completed his medical training at age 31.
After a period working for a pharmaceutical company,Li now operates a small clinic in Xinjiang,earning him the affectionate title of ”miracle doctor” from his patients. “That satisfies me more than anything,” he says, expressing his fulfillment in providing direct care to his neighbors.
