Forza Horizon 6: Xbox Game Tops Steam Wishlist Charts | Pure Xbox

by Rachel Kim – Technology Editor

Forza Horizon 6 is currently the second most wishlisted game on Steam, according to new data from Alinea Analytics, signaling a strong potential launch for the title in May. The racing game trails only Subnautica 2 in wishlist numbers, with Resident Evil Requiem rounding out the top three.

Alinea’s Rhys Elliott reported that Forza Horizon 6 has already generated approximately $13 million in revenue from over 200,000 copies sold in pre-release on the platform. While Valve’s official wishlist rankings consider not just total numbers but also the rate at which wishlists are accumulating, the figures indicate significant consumer interest.

The success of Forza Horizon 6 on Steam reflects a broader trend of Xbox expanding its presence on PC, and increasingly, on platforms traditionally associated with its competitors. In 2025, Microsoft released 13 games on PlayStation, with Forza Horizon 5 selling 5.1 million copies, according to Alinea Analytics. This strategy has seen Xbox account for a substantial portion of sales on PlayStation, with the company now selling more copies of its games on the platform than PlayStation itself.

This expansion into the PlayStation market is part of what Alinea Analytics describes as Xbox’s shift towards becoming a third-party publisher. The time between Xbox and PlayStation releases is shrinking, indicating a deliberate strategy to reach a wider audience. Minecraft, another Xbox-owned property, sold nearly one million copies on PlayStation in April 2025, boosted by the release of “A Minecraft Movie.”

The success of Xbox titles on PlayStation is not without nuance. Alinea Analytics data suggests a crossover in player bases, with nearly 60% of Forza Horizon 5 players on PlayStation also having played The Crew 2. This suggests a shared interest in racing games among players on both platforms.

Xbox’s growing presence on Steam and PlayStation is occurring as the company continues to develop and release new titles. Subnautica 2, currently leading Steam wishlists, is also planned to support Xbox Play Anywhere, offering players the flexibility to play across both PC and Xbox consoles.
