Fitbit Premium subscribers in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore will soon have access to an AI-powered personal health coach, Google announced today. The feature, which leverages Google’s Gemini AI tools, had previously been available only to users in the United States and Android phone owners.
The expansion of Fitbit’s AI coaching capabilities marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to provide more personalized health and fitness insights, moving beyond the presentation of raw data to offer actionable recommendations. For the first time, the update is available in a public preview for iPhone users with a Fitbit Premium subscription in all mentioned countries, according to Google.
Fitbit Premium, which costs £7.99 per month in the UK, unlocks additional features within the app, including coaching videos and more detailed data analysis. The personal health coach builds upon the health and fitness tracking capabilities of Fitbit devices and the Pixel Watch, aiming to emulate the AI-driven advice offered by competitors like Whoop and Oura Ring, which translate data into personalized suggestions.
The rollout to international markets began in November for Android users, but iPhone users and those outside the U.S. Have had to wait until now to access the new functionality. According to Forbes, the AI personal health coach first arrived on the Android Fitbit app months ago. The public preview allows Fitbit to gather user feedback and refine the experience before a full launch.
Google is expanding the reach of Fitbit Coach by bringing the feature to iOS users and five new international markets, according to Wareable. The company has established a dedicated community forum for updates and bug fixes related to the new feature.
