Fargo Juvenile Arrested After School Threat on social Media
FARGO, N.D. – A Fargo juvenile is in custody facing terrorizing charges following a reported threat made via Snapchat on Saturday, September 6th.
According to Fargo Police, officers responded to a report of a potential threat to a school at approximately 3:40 PM. A parent contacted authorities after seeing a video their child had sent on Snapchat. The video depicted what appeared to be a firearm, accompanied by a statement indicating intent to bring it to school.
Police quickly located the juvenile and executed a search at their residence. Officers recovered an “AR-style BB gun.” The juvenile subsequently admitted to creating and sharing the video as a joke.
The juvenile was arrested and transported to juvenile detention to face the terrorizing charge.
Fargo Police stressed the seriousness of such threats, even when intended as humor. They emphasized that these actions cause fear, disrupt the educational environment, raise public safety concerns, and carry significant legal consequences.
Authorities are urging parents and guardians to discuss responsible online behavior with their children, highlighting the potential ramifications of sharing violent threats, regardless of intent.
“The Fargo Police Department has zero tolerance for threats of school violence,” a statement from the department read. “All such statements, videos, or posts will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
