Berlin – A new focus on endometriosis, a chronic and often debilitating condition affecting millions of women, is gaining momentum with in-depth reporting and personal stories emerging from Zeit magazine. The publication’s recent coverage delves into the challenges of diagnosis, the experience of living with the disease, and the reasons behind its intense pain.
Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it, causing inflammation, scarring, and often severe pain.Affecting approximately 10% of women of reproductive age globally, the condition frequently goes undiagnosed for years, leading to delayed treatment and a diminished quality of life.zeit‘s reporting, published August 30, 2025, aims to raise awareness and provide a platform for those impacted to share their experiences, potentially accelerating diagnosis and improving care.
The Zeit project credits Celia Parbey,Marie thomas,and Jana Trietsch as editor and producers. Lars Zimmermann handled camera work and editing, while Benjamin Gutheil created the animation.
