Le Pen, who self-describes as a ”Mother with cats,” initially conceived the account as a private outlet. In a 2020 interview with L’Express, she likened it to a “secret garden,” explaining, “In a political life, there is a very small part that is private. Some play sports, others of philately: me I express my passion for photo by photographing my cats. I hope not to be hanged for that!” The account’s description explicitly identifies it as a “Chatterie of Bengals and Somalis,” indicating a focus on breeding these specific breeds.
The account gained attention in January 2020 when BFMTV, citing sources from Le Parisian, reported Le pen had refused all subscription requests, including one from Guillaume Larrivé, a deputy from the Les Républicains party. Despite the initial secrecy, the account remains active, showcasing Le Pen’s dedication to her feline hobby and providing a rare personal insight into the life of a prominent political figure.
