Dallas Officer-Involved Shooting: Video & Update

Dallas, TX – A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting that occurred on July 9th in the Old East Dallas area. The incident began when Dallas police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man armed with a long knife in the street.

Upon arrival at the 3000 block of Fairview Avenue, officers encountered the suspect, who was reportedly kicking the door of a residence and holding the knife to his own neck. Police issued verbal commands for the man to drop the weapon, but he did not comply. According to authorities, less-lethal force was deployed unsuccessfully, prompting further verbal commands.

The situation escalated when the man allegedly advanced towards the officers, at which point at least one officer discharged their firearm. The individual was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The knife was recovered at the scene, and no officers sustained injuries during the encounter.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office is conducting an autonomous examination into the shooting.
