Man Fatally Shoots Ex-Wife Hours After ⁣Restraining Order Filed, Shocking Video Shows

Istanbul, Turkey – Disturbing footage has emerged showing a Turkish man allegedly shooting his ex-wife hours after she filed a restraining order against him.The incident, which occurred recently, has‌ reignited concerns over escalating femicide rates and the judicial response to violence against women in Turkey.

The victim, identified as Seçil Karaca, had reportedly sought legal protection from her ex-husband, Dursun Ayintapli,⁢ due ‍to fears for her safety. According to reports, Karaca was also threatened with a weapon by Ayintapli regarding a colleague. The shocking video, captured on security cameras, appears ‍to depict Ayintapli chasing and‍ fatally shooting Karaca in broad daylight.

Turkish police quickly apprehended Ayintapli‍ following the shooting and he remains in‍ custody facing charges for Karaca’s murder ‌and the threat against her colleague. He has reportedly confessed to the‌ killing and is currently awaiting trial, with prosecutors seeking a life sentence.

The case underscores a deeply troubling trend of femicide in Turkey. In a controversial ruling this past August,⁣ the country’s‍ highest court suggested ‌a man could receive a‌ reduced sentence for murdering⁣ a woman if⁤ she had “provoked him by refusing to have sex.” This decision has‌ drawn widespread condemnation from activists and legal⁤ experts, ⁢who fear it sets a risky precedent and‌ reflects systemic issues within⁤ the Turkish legal system regarding violence‌ against women.‍
