Charlie Kirk Shot During utah Valley University Event
Conservative activist adn Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was shot while addressing a large crowd at Utah Valley University on september 10, 2025. His condition was initially unclear following the incident.”We are confirming that he was shot and we are praying for Charlie,” stated Aubrey Laitsch, public relations manager for Turning Point USA.
University officials confirmed a single shot was fired from a nearby building,and a suspect was taken into custody. An alert sent to students reported one person was being detained, stating, ”A single shot was fired on campus toward a visiting speaker. Police are investigating now,suspect in custody,” as reported by the deseret News.
Video circulating on social media depicts Mr. Kirk speaking to a large outdoor audience when a sound consistent with a gunshot is heard. The footage shows Mr. kirk briefly touching his neck before falling from his chair, prompting attendees to flee.
US President Donald Trump, a close ally of Mr. Kirk, called for prayers, stating, “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom.” He shared this message on Truth Social.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced the bureau was monitoring the situation. “We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” Patel posted on X. “Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response.”
US Vice President JD Vance also requested prayers for Mr. Kirk, describing him as “a genuinely good guy and a young father.”
Utah Valley University Police spokesperson Christine Nelson confirmed that shots were fired and a shelter-in-place order was issued.
Mr. Kirk, known for his role in mobilizing youth support for Mr. Trump in the recent election, frequently draws large crowds to his events on college campuses.
The shooting occurs amidst a reported increase in political violence across the US,including the assassination of a Minnesota state politician and her husband in June,the firebombing of a Colorado parade in support of hostage release,and an arson attack on the home of pennsylvania’s governor in April. This incident follows the shooting of former President Trump during a campaign rally last year.
