central American Chocolate Makers Claim International Recognition at 2025 World Final
BUCHAREST,MADRID,NEW YORK – November 9,2025 – Central American chocolate producers demonstrated exceptional skill and quality at the World Final of the International Chocolate Awards 2025,earning multiple medals and accolades in the prestigious global competition.The virtual event, broadcast from Bucharest, Madrid, and New York, saw over 100 judges from 14 countries evaluate entries through blind tastings, assessing flavor, texture, technique, aroma, and presentation.
Honduras emerged as a strong performer, securing two bronze medals. Lighthouse‘s 65% con Gifity bar received 86.7 points, while Chocolatepeque‘s Pure Cocoa Powder earned 86.3 points. Costa Rica also took home a bronze, awarded to Catica Chocolates for its Catica Chocolates Cocoa Butter, which scored 85.6 points.
Belize achieved notable success with two silver medals. The Belize Chocolate Company‘s Maya Mountain 70% bar was recognized in the natural dark chocolate category with 86.3 points,and the company secured a second silver medal in an undisclosed category.
Founders monica Meschini, Maricel Presilla, and Martin Christy announced the winners during the international online ceremony. The jury emphasized the high technical level and creativity of the participants, noting the prominence of single-origin chocolates, controlled fermentations, natural sweeteners, and local flavors. Deliberations were conducted anonymously, with medals determined by private vote of the Grand Jury, evaluating each sample for overall balance.
