New electric icon targets young, style-conscious buyers starting at Rp 190 Million

The automotive landscape in Indonesia just got a significant jolt with the unveiling of the BYD Atto 1 at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025. Originally known as the Seagull, this all-electric vehicle makes its debut with a surprisingly accessible starting price of just Rp 190 million, positioning it as a compelling option for a new generation of drivers.

BYD’s Bold Entry Strategy

BYD Indonesia is aiming to capture the attention of younger consumers seeking a distinctive and efficient mode of transportation. Head of Public and Government Relations for BYD Indonesia, Luther Pandjaitan, highlighted the vehicle’s anticipated buzz prior to its official launch.

The introduction of the Atto 1 marks BYD’s most affordable offering in the Indonesian market to date. According to Gaikindo, electric vehicle sales in Indonesia are projected to increase significantly by 2025, driven by government incentives and growing consumer interest in sustainable transport.

Variant Details and Performance Specs

BYD is offering the Atto 1 in two distinct trims: the Dynamic, priced at Rp 195 million, and the Premium, available for Rp 235 million, both on-the-road prices in Jakarta. The Dynamic variant is equipped with a 30.08 kWh blade battery, promising a range of up to 300 km, while the Premium model boasts a larger 38.88 kWh battery for an extended range of 380 km.

Under the hood, the Atto 1 features an electric motor capable of producing 75 kW of power and 135 Nm of torque, with a top speed capped at 120 km/h. Its acceleration is zippy, achieving 0 to 50 km/h in a swift 4.9 seconds.

Design and Features for the Modern Driver

Measuring 3,925 mm in length, 1,720 mm in height, and 1,590 mm in width, the Atto 1 has a wheelbase of 2,500 mm and a ground clearance of 155 mm. Available color options include Sprout Green, Apricity White, and Cosmos Black for both Premium and Dynamic trims. Interior highlights include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, complemented by parking cameras and three rear parking sensors.
