Apple is reportedly developing a more affordable MacBook, aiming to lower the entry price for its laptop line to around $700. This potential budget model arrives as Apple recently upgraded its existing entry-level laptops with the M4 MacBook Air and M5 MacBook Pro.
The move comes amid a broader evolution of Apple’s laptop division, with plans for a MacBook Pro featuring an OLED touchscreen anticipated by the end of 2026. A lower-priced MacBook would broaden Apple’s market reach, perhaps attracting customers currently priced out of the ecosystem and increasing competition in the Windows-dominated budget laptop segment. Currently, the most affordable MacBook Air with the M4 chip starts at $1099.
