Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha sparked discussion after posting about the death of US conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Instagram. Kirk, 31, founder of the youth organization Turning Point USA, died Wednesday after being shot in the throat during an event at Utah Valley University in Utah, attended by approximately 3,000 people.
Nmecha initially shared a black and white photo of Kirk with the message, “May the Lord stand with the Kirk family with special grace during this time. Jesus is the real way to peace and love.” He followed with a separate post stating, “Jesus is the way, the truth and life. the murder of a father and husband, a man who stands peacefully for his beliefs and values, is realy evil and shows how much we really need Jesus Christ. May God show grace and open your eyes and hearts in Jesus’ names.” That post was later deleted.
KirkS organization, Turning Point USA, is known for promoting right-wing conservative and evangelical viewpoints on school and university campuses. He was a vocal supporter of former US President Donald trump and actively worked to mobilize young voters.
