Bolivian Tennis Prodigy to Represent South america at Copa América U-14
ORLANDO, FL – Matías Rivero, a 14-year-old tennis player from Bolivia, will compete this weekend in the Copa América U-14 tournament held at the USTA courts in Orlando, Florida. rivero is the sole bolivian representative on the COSAT (Confederación Sudamericana de Tenis) team, a testament to his strong performance throughout the season.
Rivero earned his spot on the team based on his results in the COSAT 2025 South American Circuit, as reflected in the South American Ranking for 14-year-olds, and his success on the European Tour. A letter from COSAT formally invited him to join the Copa américa Team, recognizing his achievements.
The young athlete has already demonstrated important skill, notably winning the Banana Bowl in Brazil – a highly regarded tournament within the COSAT circuit. He further showcased his talent in Europe, reaching the semifinals of three separate tournaments.
“United States! It is indeed a huge honor to travel representing Bolivia within the South American COSAT team in the Copa América 2025.I promise to leave my heart in each set and give my best in each point. Let’s go Bolivia!” Rivero shared on his social media channels.
The COSAT team, comprised of eight players - four men and four women - along with two captains (coaches), will face competition from the United States, Canada, and a combined team from Central America and the Caribbean. The tournament will utilize a round-robin format, featuring six singles matches and two doubles matches. Each singles and doubles contest will be decided by a match tie-break in the third set.
Rivero’s participation marks a significant moment for Bolivian tennis and highlights the growing talent emerging from the South American circuit.
