Aziz Ansari’s ‘Good Fortune,’ Maude Apatow’s ‘Poetic License’ Added to TIFF Lineup

A slate of international films is set to make their debut across North America, Canada, and the world, with several highly anticipated titles slated for premiere screenings.

Romain Gavras‘s “sacrifice,” a co-production between the United Kingdom and Greece, will have it’s World premiere. Mamoru Hosoda’s “Scarlet,” hailing from Japan, is scheduled for its North American Premiere. Norway, France, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, and the United Kingdom have collaborated on Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value,” which will be presented as a Canadian Premiere.

Germany, Hungary, and France unite for Ildikó Enyedi’s “Silent Friend,” marking its North American Premiere. France and Spain present Óliver Laxe’s “Sirāt,” also receiving its North American Premiere. Germany’s Mascha Schilinski will debut “Sound of Falling” with a North American Premiere.

Brazil, France, Netherlands, and Germany are behind Kleber Mendonça Filho’s “The Secret Agent,” which will have its Canadian Premiere. The USA’s Benny Safdie presents “The Smashing Machine” in its North American Premiere. The UK’s “The Testament of Ann Lee,” directed by Mona Fastvold, will be shown in 70mm for its North American Premiere.

South Korea’s Yeon Sang-ho will unveil “The Ugly” as a World Premiere. Italy and Spain’s “Three Goodbyes,” directed by isabel Coixet, is also a World Premiere. Clint Bentley’s “Train Dreams” from the USA is set for its International Premiere.

Daniel Roher’s “Tuner,” a US production, will have its Canadian Premiere. From Canada, zacharias Kunuk’s “Uiksaringitara (Wrong Husband)” is slated for its North American Premiere.Nick Davis’s “You Had to Be There: How the Toronto Godspell Ignited the Comedy Revolution…” from the USA will celebrate its World Premiere.
