Whoopi Goldberg’s ⁣AWSN Launches in Saudi‍ Arabia, Broadcasting Women’s Premier League​ Globally

Riyadh, ​Saudi Arabia – In a landmark moment for women’s sports in the Kingdom, the ‍All​ Women’s Sports Network (AWSN), founded ⁢by acclaimed US media⁢ personality ‌Whoopi Goldberg, has officially ‌launched in Saudi Arabia⁤ today. This marks the‌ first dedicated 24-hour channel focused entirely on women’s sports to air within the country, and signals a ⁢significant step forward in the growing prominence‍ of⁤ female athletics.

AWSN ‌will broadcast the Saudi Women’s Premier League​ both domestically and internationally, thanks to a strategic partnership with ‌the Saudi ‌Arabian Football Federation⁤ (SAFF) and⁢ Saudi sports Company (SSC), the nation’s leading sports broadcaster. The channel is⁣ currently available in Saudi Arabia via‌ the MBC Shahid streaming platform.

The⁢ launch coincides with the start of ⁣the 2025-26 season ​of the SAFF Women’s premier League,kicking off tonight with matches between Al-ahli and​ Neom,and Al-Hilal versus Al-Qadsiah.

“The broadcast ⁤of the SAFF Women’s Premier League on AWSN ‌is a transformative milestone for women’s football in Saudi arabia,” stated Aalia Al‍ Rasheed, head of women’s football​ at SAFF.”This partnership will provide unprecedented ⁤visibility for‍ our league and inspire a new generation of female athletes.”

Beyond the‍ Saudi Women’s Premier League, ​SSC AWSN ‍will feature a ‌prime-time match each ⁣week,​ alongside extensive coverage of major international competitions and leagues. viewers can expect to⁤ see action⁢ from UEFA women’s competitions, France’s D1 Arkema League,⁣ Sweden’s Damallsvenskan,​ and highlights from Italy’s ‍Serie A, Germany’s Bundesliga, France’s ⁣Division I‍ Féminine, and England’s Barclays Women’s‍ Championship.

AWSN, which broadcasts over 2,500 hours⁣ of live women’s sports annually, was initially launched in late 2024 by Goldberg and co-founder George Chung,‌ with initial broadcasts in the US, India,​ UAE, and​ the Philippines.
